Today's comic is about Jocko's "Good" Philosophy. You can find a summary video here. It's a simple philosophy that encourages you to take ownership of your actions, embrace reality, and maintain composure during difficult moments in life.
You can apply or combine this philosophy with other concepts like radical acceptance, which is part of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Radical acceptance requires you to accept reality, even when it is painful or difficult. It's all about acknowledging and embracing the present moment as it is without resisting or passing judgment. The first part of "Good" is to embrace reality, which is also how radical acceptance begins, in acknowledging the reality of the situation regardless of your feelings. Saying good is an effective way to embrace and accept the moment, similar to people who use mantras to help center themselves when they get cut off in traffic.
This would be a lengthy post if I listed all the parallels between radical acceptance and the "Good" philosophy that makes them work well together. You can explore that more yourself if it appeals to you, but I also found “Good” to work well with other aspects of DBT, and the principles of active listening.
