I don't think kids today will understand standing in a preorder line for a new game. Venturing out late at night to stand in a line that stretches around the corner for GTA IV so that you can immediately play it when you get home after 1 am. One of the side benefits of this was you would bump into people you knew who happened to preorder from the same store. I'm glad I no longer have to stand in line, as downloading things is far more convenient, but these were among my formative experiences. It makes sense that it went to the wayside because if this were still happening, it would seem like as much of an anachronism as movie theaters. I think the in-store experience will eventually be captured in VR, maybe by the Job Simulator people.
I mentioned in the last news post that HellDivers 2 didn't seem to like my wife's PC, but it is working again today. I didn't have the same issue, but I'm running on an RTX 2080, whereas she has a GTX 1060. I built both of our computers with all-new hardware, with the exception of the 1060, which was my last card. Until now, it has been running newer games on high or better without issue, but it struggles with Darktide and Helldivers 2. Considering that the 1060 is eight years old and the 2080 is now six, I'm surprised at how well each of them continues to perform.
